VULTURES MATTER

Welcome to my Webpage.

The general view of vultures is predominantly negative. They are perceived as ugly, dirty scavengers feeding on the dead carcasses of animals. Movies have traditionally used the image of circling vultures as a symbol of death.

In this interactive experience, I hope to change your opinion of this most unappreciated species of Bird. I hope, to show you that, not only is the stereotypical image of the hunch shouldered vulture unrepresentative of the species as a whole but to demonstrate the many benefits that vultures give to their ecosystems and to humanity as a whole.

Please look around the site and then, if you would, fill out the form on the final page.

Many thanks!

Who am I?

I am currently in my 3rd year studying Zoology at The University of Manchester. Part of my course involves a media project that creates a resource to help educate the public on a zoological topic.

I’ve always had an interest in birds, particularly birds of prey. In particular, I have always loved vultures, with my favourite bird being the bearded vulture. However, it is obvious to me that not everyone shares my favourable attitude towards these animals, with my sister especially being repulsed by them. This encouraged me to create this resource that would help the general public to see these magnificent bird in the same positive light that I do.

You have already completed the initial form that gave your views on vultures. I would love if you could read through this website and complete the secondary form at the end.

Thank you.
